Last Mile Health is honored to announce that our short film, Workinesh, a Community Health Worker’s Story, won a Telly Award, with our selection as a silver winner in the health and safety category.
Our short film was made possible by the Skoll Foundation and the Video Consortium as part of their “Solutions Inside Out” series. We are particularly grateful to director Beza Hailu Lemma for his work bringing this story to life.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 to honor excellence in video and television across all screens—and it’s inspiring to see community health workers being recognized in this prestigious forum.
For Workinesh, a desire to help her own mother inspired a career in healthcare that now benefits her entire community. Every day, she dedicates her time to supporting pregnant women and new mothers, treating common illnesses in young children, providing immunizations, and more. Her story offers a glimpse into the transformative impact that’s possible when we invest in community health workers as professionals—in Ethiopia, and beyond.
Watch Workinesh’s story now, and join us in celebrating her incredible recognition.
