We are honored to share the news that Last Mile Health has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the Hilton Humanitarian Prize.
As the largest annual humanitarian award for nonprofit organizations, the Hilton Prize recognizes “organizations innovating, advocating, and creating positive change for people experiencing disadvantage around the world.” As the 31st Prize laureate, we join a remarkable group of organizations whose work has transformed lives globally.
While this recognition carries tremendous meaning for our entire team, we see this prize first and foremost as a celebration of community health workers – the women and men working tirelessly at the last mile to bring lifesaving care to families who would otherwise be left behind.
This includes Liberian community health worker Genesis Whelegee, who spoke with NPR about the award and his work, saying “There was a lot of malaria, and we didn’t know why children were dying in the community. Now everyone is getting [medical] attention.”
In addition, we are grateful to share this recognition with the partners who make our work possible – from Ministry of Health leaders and funding partners, to our peers across the community health space and supporters like you. We are honored to share this incredible achievement with our community, and look forward to all that we will continue to accomplish together in pursuit of our vision of a health worker within reach of everyone, everywhere.
